By day, players compete in the sanctioned Speedhunter Showdown to earn Bank for cars and parts; by night, the city turns illicit, offering higher-stakes street races that earn REP but draw aggressive police pursuits that escalate with roadblocks and helicopters, with a full night's reputation lost if you're caught. The game features an extensive customization suite, including body kits, spoilers, rims, underglow, engine swaps, and a full livery editor, with performance tuning kept separate from visual tuning, alongside a large licensed roster of Japanese, European, and American cars using an arcade-leaning handling model with a tunable drift/grip slider. The Deluxe Edition adds a K.S Edition Lancer Evolution X starter car, three further unlockable K.S Edition vehicles, four exclusive character outfits, and permanent 5% boosts to both REP and Bank earnings, and the entire single-player campaign can be played fully offline.

• Account: A free Microsoft account with its country/region set to the United States, PLUS a free EA account. The EA account requirement is easy to overlook and should be stated on the sale page.
• Internet: Required for the initial download and for all online free roam, crews and multiplayer. The single-player campaign is playable OFFLINE - Heat deliberately dropped the always-online requirement that the 2015 Need for Speed had.
• Subscription: Online play requires an active Xbox Game Pass membership on a tier that includes online console multiplayer (currently Essential, Premium or Ultimate - the tiers that replaced Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Core). Not included with this key. Offline single-player needs no subscription.
• Not compatible with: PC, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. This key does not grant the PC (Steam / EA app) version.

The offline single-player campaign is the guaranteed content; the online components remain subject to EA's service terms.
